Hoo-rah! The day wasn't too shabby, considering the rain forecast that has been predicted from the beginning of the week proved to be wrong as usual. The worst part of the day? It is too hot, no, make that the mosquitoes! I spent most of the day at Geoff's friend's house. They live near the park where our town holds the holiday festivities, so it was convenient to go to the park whenever and cool off in the A/C. Dinner was fabulous. There were many entries from fried chicken to barbeque ribs. We watched Rush Hour 2, played Perfect Dark (I hate N64 fps!!!), and I tried reading Lord of the Rings (I still cannot get into the book). We tried going to the park to see if there was anything else to do. Unfortunately, it was very apparent that last year was special as the park was pretty much vacant. The cars in the contest were interesting, although I didn't have much time to view them as Geoff zoom by all of them - apparently not appreciating those fine cars. I got a call from Fasel that they will be in Centennial Park later. I hope to catch up with them as I started to get bored. As the last hour loomed before the show began, I left to pick up Greg. I was amazed that many people were shooting off fireworks. I didn't realize that many people enjoy shooting them off in one subdivision alone. One family were shooting them off in front of the driveway - obviously not caring about police passing by. When we got back, we passed the time by throwing a football around. It was funny trying to catch an object that appears at the last second. Fasel called me back, but I had trouble hearing what he was saying. I kept hearing he was in some "home." Greg called me to tell me that he was going to stay in the park for the fireworks, which began right then. From our vantage point, the fireworks were okay. The music were mostly patriotic, although it was neat they added famous quotes in one act. I have to add that this was when all the mosquitoes kept biting me! I should have sprayed Off! on my neck, back, and face. Oh well, more mosquitoes will be born later. Mrs. Kotan asked me why her computer always disconnect randomly, especially when writing e-mails. I checked her idle time, which was set to 255 minutes, which of course should have lasted for abour 4 hours. I turned the option off and the internet was still connected when we left. I guess the main problem was they upgraded MSN to version 8. Before, it would warn the user when it was about to disconnect. Now, it will disconnect abruptly. Her friend was also having the same problem, so something odd was going on. While I was trying to diagnose the problem, my mom kept asking me how to release the brake pedal, since we were blocking the way of several cars in the driveway. I was amazed 3 men and 1 woman could not see that the instructions were on the pedal itself! Even when we got in the car, the brake were still engaged, and she claimed that she did not set it... bah! I talked to Fasel when I got home, and he said he was at the Palos Health Center... Oohhhh! lol. Whoa, time to go to sleep, I need to get up bright and early tomorrow :-( That's for another blog
